Our Programs & Classes
Students and enthusiasts of Tang Soo Do have many reasons for their interest in this and other martial art styles. Some are drawn to the physical fitness and weight-loss aspects of training. Others seek to add discipline and self control to their lives. While still others are concerned about safety and self-defense.

Whether you are interested in our programs for mental or physical well being, Middleburg Martial Arts offers a number of programs that will fit your developmental needs and your busy schedule as well.

Family Class
This class is for adults, as well as children, and is offered at 6:15 PM on Tues. and Thurs, as well as Sat. AM.. This is a great time for families to work out and have fun together, while learning how to defend themselves. This class is open to all students regardless if you have other family members training with us. This class offers a great work out and will help you to get in shape and feel good.
Little Dragons/Youth Classes
For 5 - 7 year olds. This class is an action packed class which teaches the basics of Tang Soo Do. Children have fun while working on discipline and self-control. The children are taught the value of using our heads and hearts rather than our fists. They are schooled in stranger safety, and how to avoid conflicts with other children. They are taught the seven tenets of Tang Soo Do - 1. integrity 2. concentration 3. perseverance 4. respect and obedience 5. self-control 6. humility and 7. indomitable spirit. Our Little Dragons-AMP is for our After School Martial Program students whom we transport to the studio. See below for more information on this program. Our Dragons class is for all other new students white and orange belts.
Intermediate Youth
Our Intermediate Youth class is for children, green belts and brown belts. This is a fast-moving class which covers intermediate and some advanced techniques. At this level the children have good discipline and self-control so we spend much of our time working on honing their techniques and self-defense moves. This class is offered Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Advanced Youth
Our Advanced Youth class is for children, red belts and above. The students train in advanced forms and techniques, with a focus on developing black belt level skills and precision.  This class is offered Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and Friday at 5:00 p.m.

Tiny Tigers
This exciting class is for children ages 3 - 4 years old.It is action packed and fun. The goal is to teach the children Tang Soo Do while having fun. We work on positive reinforcement to help build self-esteem. We play games which assist us in our coordination and balance. Children also work on following directions, lining up and overall self-discipline.
Adult Class
This class is for adults and selected senior ranking teens. It is a fast moving class and is a great way to stay in shape and relieve stress. Students have found that they simply feel better about themselves after attending class regularly for a period of time. Typically, our students say that they have increased energy, look better, and are more confident. This class covers all areas of Tang Soo Do including forms, self defense moves, sparring and weapons.  This class is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Ki Gong
Ki Gong is an ancient Korean art which combines breathing, light exercises and meditation. This helps us feel more relaxed and to relieve stress, while at the same time energizing us. It is a fun, easy class for adults of all ages. If you find yourself constantly tired or stressed, this is the class for you. This class is great for seniors or people who have health problems since it is not aerobic and relatively easy to do. Yet, the benefits are unbelievable! The benefits are similar to those of Yoga, Tai Chi and meditation.
Tumbling
Classes will now be at 9:15-10:15am.  We do have several spaces available for anyone who is interested in taking this class.  Tumbling can be an invaluable companion to your child's karate experience by helping them not only with rolls and falls but also with balance, strength and coordination.

Mrs. Dot Blanchett teaches the tumbling classes and she has coached competitive and recreational gymnastics since 1991 as well as Children's Village Gymnastics and All American Gymnastics.  She has also taught a recreational program at Step-n-Motion Dance Studio, similar to the one she will be teaching at Middleburg Martial Arts.

She resides in Middleburg and has 4 children, 3 of whom are enrolled in our karate program.  She is very excited to be involved in a recreational program again and looks forward to getting to know all of the children
After School Martial Arts Program
This is a great alternative to daycare! We will pick up your child from school and bring them to the studio each day. They will then get a karate lesson and work on character building skills. Homework time is provided as well as a daily snack. We offer this program until 6:30 each day for the same price as most daycares!

Karate is a great way for children to learn discipline and self-control, while at the same time building their self-esteem, physical condition, flexibility, and coordination. The training that we offer goes well beyond the physical aspect and tends to have an overall positive impact on the child. Many of our parents have found a direct correlation between karate training and an improvement in attitude, grades, and physical ability. The children learn how to protect themselves, while at the same time how to control their behavior and use words rather than physical force.
Summer Camp
Middleburg Martial Arts offers an awesome summer Karate Camp. We have karate classes as well as other sports and crafts. This is an excellent alternative to daycare. We take the children swimming, boating, and to parks. We have a daily reading time and have a summer reading program. Safety issues are taught such as stranger danger, 911,and keeping ourselves safe. We also work on our tenets such as self-control, respect, obedience, and integrity. Additionally we make cool crafts and just have FUN!
