AYRES FAMILY NAMED 2008 REGION 21 FAMILY OF THE YEAR! Nomination Letter by Ms. Jan Lappin
April 2008
I am writing this letter to recommend the Ayres family for the Region 21 Family of the Year. The Ayres family consists of Jon (dad), Aurora (mom), Jon Paul, Leah and David.
Before joining Middleburg Martial Arts and the World Tang Soo Do Association in 2004, the family trained in Pennsylvania under the American Tang Soo Do Federation. They have been truly committed to the Tang Soo Do family. Their dedication to the art is second to none.
Jon Ayres is a Senior Chief in the US Navy. He has temporarily postponed his training as he is now stationed in Georgia and is currently working on his Master’s degree.
Jon Paul achieved his black belt in November 2005 and recently received the rank of 2nd degree at 14 years old, Leah achieved her black belt in April 2006 and is testing for 2nd degree this month at 12 years old and David achieved his black belt in April 2007 at the age of 9. All of the children have received the honor of best tester during their black belt test as well as receiving 90 and above on their written test. Aurora has achieved her black belt this past November at the age of 50.
In addition to the children being excellent martial artists, they also maintain good grades in school with Jon Paul having a 3.3 grade average in high school, Leah being a straight A student and David being on A/B honor roll.
The Ayres family is always helping out at the studio by participating in our demonstrations, assisting with classes as Jon Paul is one of our team leaders in the school and Aurora is one of our instructors and always promoting our school by referring students to train with Middleburg Martial Arts.
They demonstrate the true spirit of Tang Soo Do and have a positive attitude at all times.
Respectfully submitted,
