BUDDY DAY
Bring a friend to class on 1/13 or 1/14 and you will get to do padded sword with them. Please pick up a permission slip at the front desk as I need this filled out for your friend to participate. Buddy Day is a great way to introduce Karate to your friends and family. This will also be the kickoff to our new referral contest. You will notice $100 in one dollar bills hanging in the studio. When you bring a friend you will get 1 raffle ticket for the $100, if they join you will get 10 more raffle tickets. You will also get your $50 gift certificate to the Pro shop as well as become a member of the SWAT Team. Speaking of referrals congratulations to Megan Blanchett for winning the swords, and welcome to Chyenne McManaway our newest MMA student.

Bully Seminar
We will be having a Bully Seminar on 1/16 at 10am. This is a FREE event and we encourage you to bring a friend or two. The statistics for the number of children who are bullied is staggering and this seminar can teach them how to deal with a bully as well as to not be a bully. We do need a permission slip for friends to attend or their parent can be present. Permission slips are available at the front counter.

Ninja Buddy Day
What a way to follow up a super Bully seminar than to come to our Ninja Buddy Day. You will get to have pizza, drink and a short karate class. Your cost, bring a friend. This is a great way to get raffle tickets for the $100. Choose a friend that you think will be interested in karate, they will be more likely to join and you will get 10 more tickets. The date for this event is going to be 1/16 from 11:30am until 12:30pm.

Breaking Seminar
We will be holding a breaking Seminar on 1/30 from 11:30am until 1pm. This Seminar is great for working on and preparing your breaks for the GUP test. The cost of the Seminar is $20, Masters $15 and Leaders $10. The cost includes one regular board for breaking. We will be using Rebreakable boards also in the class. If you do not own a Rebreakable board of your own, I highly suggest you consider purchasing one. They can save you hundreds of dollars. Consider if you purchase 20 real boards in a year for demos or practice, at $5 per board you have already spent $100. The top of the line Rebreakable boards are $79 plus tax. You are already saving money and your child can practice breaking at home. The boards come in different strengths so if you are interested talk to Dot at the front counter.

STRIPING
We will be striping for the upcoming GUP test on 2/13. Please practice so you will be ready, especially those testing for Blue Belt.

The Family That Kicks Together Sticks Together

Traditionally, the term "martial arts family" refers to the closeness and unity of
fellow practitioners. Today, "martial arts family" has been redefined by the
increasing popularity of the martial arts within entire households. Moms,
dads, brothers and sisters are learning the martial arts together. In today's society,
where everyone seems to be busy with his or her own agendas, families can unite a
few times per week to train in the martial arts. There is a saying in the martial arts:
"Families that kick together stick together." Families that share a common interest
often maintain or develop a special bond that improves the family relationship.
Imagine the benefits your family will experience training in the martial arts together.
Practice makes perfect, and a workout with a partner and
reviewing techniques together can be valuable learning tools
and enhance the training experience. You will find this relaxing,
enjoyable and a great way to stay motivated to exercise at home.
Although you are working towards a common goal, you will find
that each family member reaps a unique benefit from his or her
training. For example, dad may enjoy the benefits of better weight
control, the great feeling after working out and increased energy.
Mom might find improved muscle tone, increased energy and
cardiovascular benefits to be her motivators. Children will
enjoy the fun of learning martial arts, improving their focus
for academic success and the companionship of other
family members being involved.
As a family martial arts center, we
encourage everyone to participate in the
martial arts. We invite your family to
join our family in the quest for better
health, improved relationships and, of
course, a martial arts Black Belt.
