How Martial Arts Builds Confidence
THEME OF THE MONTH
This month we will be focusing on commitment. This is something that everyone needs to be reminded about at sometime or other. Children and adults as well, need to be reminded that when we commit to something whether it be Black Belt or to cleaning our room we need to follow through. We are asking that each student write down something that they committed too and completed, and then please turn it in to share with the class.
STUDENT OF THE
MONTH
Super job, Anthony Bracken! You are the Student of the Month! Anthony works very hard attends every event that he can and he had perfect attendance over the summer. Keep up the good work!
SAVE THE DATE
Our annual Camp out and clinic will be November 12th and 13th. Please ask Dot for the number to Ocean Grove RV Resort to reserve your RV or Tent site. You do not have to camp to come for the day and do the clinic. Clinic apps will be out later this month. Please let us know if you have any questions.
BUDDY DAY
Bring a Friend and do Escrima! Buddy Day is on September 1st and 2nd. Bring a friend with a signed permission slip or a parent and you will get a prize and you and your friend will get to do Escrima sticks! Permission slips are now available on the website or you can ask for one at the front desk.
NINJA NIGHT
Ninja Night is coming up on 9/10. This is always a lot of fun for the kids. They get to play games, break boards, do Karate, have pizza and tons more! Parents can also take advantage of this and use it as a “Date Night.” Ninja night starts at 6:30PM and ends at 10PM. The cost is $20 per child $15 for additional family members and $10 for a friend. Please note that the friend needs to have a signed permission slip.
Open Tournament
We will be holding an Open Tournament on Saturday, October 9, 2010. It will be at the Middleburg High School Gymnasium. Applications have been e-mailed and are also available on our website and at the front counter. Everyone is welcome to compete. Divisions begin with Tiny Tigers and go up to Black Belt. We also have a creativity division that you can do alone or with a group. The Open Tournament is great way to build confidence and skill as we practice here and they practice at home for the competition. Please ask if you have any questions. Also, if you have the time and are interested we are always looking for helpers for this event.

PARENTS CLUB NEWS
Thank you to the Parents Club for all their help with the Black Belt clinic. The clinic was a huge success and the help is greatly appreciated.
We have some orders in for window clings but we still need a few more to be able to send it in. So if you are interested in a window cling please get an order form from the Parents Club board. You can turn it in to Dot at the front counter.
Our Wal-mart Demo is scheduled for 9/11 from 9:30AM until 1:30PM. You do not have to be there the whole time but if every parent and student did just one hour that would be GREAT!
Any questions or suggestions please e-mail Joanne Manzi at jmmanzi@fdn.com.
Referral Contest
Congratulations to Amanda Hogle! She was our $100 winner! Thank you to everyone who helped to grow our studio during this time. It is because of you that costs can be kept down. Without internal referrals we would have to spend a lot more on advertising. Thank you to Sebastian Daniels for referring his dad Steven to our MMA program. Sebastian is our newest member of the SWAT Team and will receive a $50 gift certificate to the pro shop. Thank you Sebastian!
One of the most valuable benefits of training in the Martial Arts, is the sense of self-confidence you gain! You may be wondering how does this type of training increases a person's level of self-confidence in a way NO OTHER activity can.
Well, it's really quite simple.
Confidence is a SKILL, and like any other skill, just like improving your balance, or coordination, it's something you practice by DOING! In your martial arts classes you'll be presented with new and exciting challenges virtually every class. In each of these challenges you'll find a new skill to improve, and a new way to grow!
Each rank you achieve, you'll know that you've accomplished something truly awesome, and you'll be more and more prepared for the ultimate goal, earning your Black Belt!
Every step along the way, you'll have your instructors, assistant instructors, and family to help you overcome any obstacles you encounter. This, in itself, is the "process" of success. Facing challenges, and finding a way to accomplish your goals is the most important lesson anyone can learn!
In the process, each time you overcome an obstacle, your confidence builds and becomes more solid. You will learn that you can accomplish virtually any goal you set your sights on, and are willing to work to accomplish!
This is a skill that will carry you through your entire life, and most people NEVER have the opportunity you have to make such a big impact on their own level of self-confidence!
Each lesson you attend you'll become more and more sure of your skills and abilities.
Each obstacle you overcome will be a building block of your personal character and self esteem!
