THEME OF THE MONTH

All this month we will be working with an “I CAN” attitude. Having an “I Can” attitude is the first step in reaching any goals. Talk with your child about positive self talk and have them write down 3 good things about themselves and turn them into their instructor. Remember if you say I can or I can’t your right. Please get your coat of arms to fill out. This is a really cool worksheet that tells you a lot about yourself.

Many congratulations to Sebastian Daniels, Student of the Month! Sebastian is a member of our Leaders Club as is always participating in events. He is very respectful and a Great student. Way to go!

AMP STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Great job Rylan Mark AMP Student of the Month. Rylan is a good helper and is very polite. He is wonderful to have in class. Good for you, Rylan!

SALE

We are having a sale in the pro shop! 10% off of any pink or red items. This sale will continue through the month of February. Come in and see just how many pink and red items we carry.

School Closed/Tournament Prep Day

Schools will be closed on Friday, February 18^th. Our After School Program will be open all day. If you are working and need care for your child on this day check us out! We will also be having a special Tournament Prep Day on this day. Time is 10AM-3PM you will get to work on the mat doing your tournament forms as well as have fun with the day camp. Participants will need to bring a lunch. Please see Dot for pricing and details.

Parent Coaching Week

Parent Coaching week went really well and we would like to thank all of the parents that came out on the mats and helped coach their student. We are hoping to do this again in the future so if you were unable to come out this time we look forward to seeing you next time. We hope to see more parents on the mats.

CLUB THEME

Clubs will be working on Rolls and Falls this month. Masters Club will be doing knife this month on the 25^th. Knives are currently 20% off in the pro shop. You can purchase what we have here or order from the catalog. The rubber knives are included in this sale.

Black Belt Written Tests

Michael Henschel is currently hosting a Black Belt written test prep class. The class is on Fridays at 4PM. He is reviewing the written material as well as giving out pre-tests. This is a great chance to get help for the written exam. Thanks Michael for helping with this class. Reminder those testing for Black Belt must pass 5 of these tests.

OPEN TOURNAMENT

Applications for our next Open Tournament have been e-mailed, are available on the website, or can be picked up at the front counter. The Open Tournament is a great first tournament and everyone really has a lot of fun. The creativity division is good to watch and participate in. Everyone is encouraged to participate and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

 

THE SECRET

Master Lappin is running a two part class on “The Secret.” The first class is on Friday, February 25^th and the next one will take place on Friday, March 18^th. Both classes will begin at 7PM and end at 8:30PM. Everyone 12 and above is welcomed and invited to these classes. We hope to see you there.

PARENTS CLUB NEWS

                Wal-mart demo on 2/12. We will be selling Hershey kisses flowers for Valentine’s Day. THANK YOU to everyone who helped make these. Please sign up on the Parents Club board if you would like to help with this event.

BUDDY DAY

Buddy day is a great way to share your love of karate with your friends. If you bring a friend to class on Wednesday, February 9^th or Thursday, February 10^th you and your friend will get to do chucks. You and your friend will also get a special Valentine prize. All friends need to have a signed permission slip or a parent present to participate. Permission slips are available on the website or ask at the front counter. Please call if you have any questions.

Mr. Luis’ Class

Mr. Luis’ class will start on March 4^th. (not Feb.) It is for green belts and above and will be every Friday from5-6. Open mat time for those testing blue or higher will be on Fri. from4-6 starting 2/25 and going until 4/6. The test is 4/8 here at the studio.

Character Building Sheets

These are now required for testing each quarter. Please get one and fill it out. Each task must be performed twice so please give yourself enough time to complete it before the next test this will get you a yellow stripe on your belt which is needed for testing.
